Adsorption of non-ionic surfactant and monoclonal antibody on siliconized surface studied by neutron reflectometry

Zhenhuan Zhang et al.

Summary: The study investigates the adsorption of Poloxamer 188, one mAb, and their competitive adsorption on a model hydrophobic siliconized surface using neutron scattering coupled with contrast variation. The research findings show that Poloxamer 188 can protect against mAb adsorption and modify the adsorbed conformation of previously adsorbed mAb. This study provides insights into the molecular structure of adsorbed layers and the competitive adsorption dynamics of surfactants and mAbs.

Adsorption and Aggregation of Monoclonal Antibodies at Silicone Oil-Water Interfaces

Aadithya Kannan et al.

Summary: This study shows that different antibodies have different surface activities at oil-water interfaces, directly affecting their aggregation at the interface. The addition of surfactants can competitively lower the adsorption and aggregation of antibodies at the interface, thus stabilizing the antibody formulations.
