Zn based hydroxyapatite based coatings deposited on a novel FeMoTaTiZr high entropy alloy used for bone implants

Mirela M. Codescu et al.

Summary: In this paper, a novel biocompatible alloy, FeMoTaTiZr, was functionalized with hydroxyapatite-based coatings (HAP) to enhance biocompatibility, bioactivity, and corrosion resistance for bone implants. The HAP coatings were doped with a small amount of Zn to confer antibacterial properties. Experimental results showed that the addition of Zn significantly increased the roughness of the coated substrate.

Study of the microstructure and thermomechanical properties of Mo/graphite joint brazed with Ti-Zr-Nb-Be powder filler metal

Ivan Fedotov et al.

Summary: This study aimed to brazing molybdenum and graphite with Ti-40Zr-8.5Nb-1.5Be filler metal, demonstrating its potential application in X-ray tube target brazing. Through microstructure analysis and mechanical tests, it was found that the brazed joints have high shear strength, but failure occurred at the graphite interface, with a high unbrazing temperature.

Brazing Tungsten/Tantalum/RAFM Steel Joint for DEMO by Fully Reduced Activation Brazing Alloy 48Ti-48Zr-4Be

Diana Bachurina et al.

Summary: In order to connect tungsten with reduced-activation ferritic-martensitic steel in a DEMO reactor, high-quality technology using 48Ti-48Zr-4Be wt.% brazing alloy with vanadium or tantalum intermediate layers was developed. The shear strength of the joint was successfully measured, but degradation was observed in the fillet regions after 200 thermocycles in the temperature range of 300-600 degrees C.
