A modified straightforward process was introduced to synthesize zinc oxide nanoparticles and fill them into mesoporous silica SBA-16. The study found that the highest percentage of drug adsorption can be achieved by optimizing the factors affecting drug loading, and demonstrated the controlled drug release of SBA-16 loaded with nano ZnO.
A modified straightforward process is introduced to synthesize zinc oxide nanoparticles into the pores of a mesoporous silica SBA-16 as host. The mesoporous structure and the ZnO nanoparticles were analyzed by infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and nitrogen sorption analysis. The loading and release of temozolomide from ZnO/SBA-16 nanocomposite were studied. Encapsulation loading efficiency % was surveyed by design of experiment software and the features of release were measured. Results show the highest percentage of adsorption can be achieved by optimization of the effective factors on loading drug. Moreover, SBA-16 loaded with nano ZnO exhibited controlled drug release.
