Preparation of high-purity germanium telluride based glasses with low oxygen impurity content

A. P. Velmuzhov et al.

Summary: The paper studies the influence of preparation methods on oxide impurity content in Ge-Te, Ga-Ge-Te, and Ga-Ge-Te-I glasses, and develops a novel technique for preparing high-purity germanium and gallium telluride based glasses. A sample of high-purity Ga10Ge15Te73I2 glass with very low impurity content was successfully prepared using this technique.

Effect of the Geometries of Ge-Sb-Se Chalcogenide Glass Tapered Fiber on the Sensitivity of Evanescent Wave Sensors

Min Wang et al.

Summary: This study presents a geometrical optimization of Ge-Sb-Se chalcogenide glass tapered fiber sensors for methanol concentration sensing, discussing the effects of geometrical parameters and demonstrating enhanced sensor performance through numerical analysis. An experimental study using different transition region lengths showed that the highest sensitivity was obtained from a specific tapered fiber design, in agreement with simulation results. The effects of symmetric and asymmetric tapered fiber structure on sensing characteristics were also investigated.
