Strictly third ventricle craniopharyngiomas: pathological verification, anatomo-clinical characterization and surgical results from a comprehensive overview of 245 cases

Ruth Prieto et al.

Summary: Strictly third ventricle craniopharyngiomas are a distinct subgroup of lesions that mainly affect adult male patients, presenting with headaches and psychiatric disturbances. Preoperative neuroradiological features are essential for distinguishing these tumors from other types of craniopharyngiomas.

Craniopharyngioma in the Elderly: A Multicenter and Nationwide Study in Spain

Pedro Iglesias et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the clinicopathological features and therapeutic outcomes of craniopharyngioma diagnosed in elderly patients. The main symptoms in most patients were visual field defects and headaches, which improved significantly after surgery. However, surgery may worsen pituitary function, especially diabetes insipidus, and is associated with a lower survival rate.
