Cold nitrogen plasma modified cuminaldehyde/beta-cyclodextrin inclusion complex and its application in vegetable juices preservation

Lin Lin et al.

Summary: The study developed an effective antibacterial agent, beta-cyclodextrin inclusion complex of CUM, which exhibited improved antibacterial properties after treatment with cold nitrogen plasma and was able to disrupt the cell membrane of E. coli O157:H7. The antibacterial activity of CNP-CUM/beta CD-IC was found to be superior to CUM/beta CD-IC, showing excellent antibacterial effect in vegetable juices.

The second-order nonlinear optical property of hydrazones-based photochromic complexes: A DFT study

Yao Yao et al.

Summary: In this study, a family of hydrazone-based photochromic derivatives with hydrazone switching and phenyl groups were analyzed using DFT methods to form two isomers under light induction. It was found that Z-type complexes exhibited stronger second-order NLO responses compared to E-type complexes, and push-pull complex 4 showed potential as NLO materials with larger beta(tot) values. The interaction between donor and acceptor groups via intramolecular charge transition dominated the nonlinear optical activity of the compounds.

Synthesis, crystal growth, characterization and DFT investigation of a nonlinear optically active cumi-naldehyde derivative hydrazone

Venkatasamy Meenatchi et al.

Summary: The study conducted a thorough analysis on the crystal properties of (E)-N'-(4-isopropylbenzylidene)isonicotinohydrazide monohydrate (IBIHM) using various techniques including single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectral analysis, and scanning electron microscopy. The results revealed that IBIHM exhibited high second-harmonic generation efficiency and a large first-order molecular hyperpolarizability, indicating greater chemical stability and reactivity.
