A review of drying methods for improving the quality of dried herbs

Grant Thamkaew et al.

Summary: Numerous herb-drying studies have been conducted in recent decades, introducing several herb-drying techniques, yet the quality of commercially dried herbs still lags behind that of fresh herbs. This paper reviews studies on the impact of drying techniques and pre-drying treatments on the aroma and color of dried herbs, aiming to provide an overview of technological strategies developed for improving the quality of industrial dried aromatic herbs.

Cognitive function among older adults with diabetes and prediabetes, NHANES 2011-2014

Sarah S. Casagrande et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between diabetes status, glycemia, and cognitive function in older adults, revealing a link between diabetes and mild cognitive dysfunction. The research found that cognitive function scores decreased with increasing blood glucose levels, with significant effects observed for animal fluency and DSST even after comprehensive adjustment.

In silico, theoretical biointerface analysis and in vitro kinetic analysis of amine compounds interaction with acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase

Saravanan Kandasamy et al.

Summary: In this study, three amine compounds were identified through virtual screening, molecular docking analysis, and molecular dynamics simulation to have the best interaction with AChE/BChE, with their stable binding attributed to noncovalent interactions. In vitro analysis showed that these compounds exhibited moderate mixed-type inhibition against AChE/BChE.

Astaxanthin-s-allyl cysteine diester against high glucose-induced neuronal toxicity in vitro and diabetes-associated cognitive decline in vivo: Effect on p53, oxidative stress and mitochondrial function

Chitra Loganathan et al.

Summary: The study revealed the neuroprotective effect of AST-SAC against oxidative stress induced by high glucose and cognitive decline in diabetes conditions. AST-SAC effectively preserved neuronal cells and cognitive function, while reducing oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction.
