Corrosion and passivation behavior of laser powder bed fusion produced Ti-6Al-4V in static/dynamic NaCl solutions with different concentrations

P. Qin et al.

Summary: The study found that Ti-6Al-4V forms oxide films in NaCl solutions, with film thickness increasing with Cl- concentration, and more TiO2 content in dynamic conditions. The corrosion behavior and film growth mechanisms were discussed based on electrochemical and surface characteristic measurements.

Corrosion behavior and mechanism of selective laser melted Ti35Nb alloy produced using pre-alloyed and mixed powder in Hank's solution

P. Qin et al.

Summary: This study investigated the corrosion behavior and mechanism of SLM Ti35Nb separately processed with mixed powder and pre-alloyed powder in Hank's solution. Both samples showed similar corrosion behavior, but the pre-alloyed powder had more stable oxide films, while distinct oxide films formed on the TiNb and Nb regions in the mixed powder.
