An advanced method for propargylcholine phospholipid detection by direct-infusion MS

Mohamed H. Yaghmour et al.

Summary: A novel method for analyzing propargylcholine phospholipids using traceable analogues has been introduced in this study. Initial experiments applying this method to investigate choline phospholipid metabolism in brain endothelial cells have shown promising results. This new technique offers a quantitative and detailed approach to studying propargylcholine phospholipid metabolism.

Hepatic synthesis of triacylglycerols containing medium-chain fatty acids is dominated by diacylglycerol acyltransferase 1 and efficiently inhibited by etomoxir

Klaus Wunderling et al.

Summary: The study found that DGAT1 is the major enzyme for synthesizing MCFA-TG in the liver, and its loss can only be partially compensated by DGAT2. Specific inhibition of beta-oxidation leads to a compensatory increase in MCFA-TG synthesis, while etomoxir blocks both beta-oxidation and MCFA-TG synthesis, indicating a strong off-target effect on DGAT1.
