Adsorption and sensing performances of transition metal (Ag, Pd, Pt, Rh, and Ru) modified WSe2 monolayer upon SF6 decomposition gases (SOF2 and SO2F2)

Zhicheng Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, the adsorption of SF6 decomposition products on transition metal modified WSe2 was explored. The results showed that while certain modified systems were sensitive to gases, the five modified systems studied were not suitable for gas-sensing equipment in relation to SF6 decomposition products. Other modified systems can be used to detect gases by measuring the change in conductivity after adsorption.

Adsorption and gas-sensing properties of Aun (n = 1-3) cluster doped MoTe2 for NH3, NO2, and SO2 gas molecules

Zhicheng Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, density functional theory calculations were used to investigate the adsorption of toxic gases (NH3, NO2, and SO2) on Aun (n = 1-3) doped MoTe2 monolayer. The results showed that the conductivity of MoTe2 monolayer was improved after doping Au atoms. The adsorption capacity of Aun-MoTe2 for these gases was significantly improved compared to pristine MoTe2. These findings provide a theoretical basis for the preparation of gas sensors based on Aun-MoTe2 for industrial toxic gases detection.

Defect Engineering of Graphene to Modulate pH Response of Graphene Devices

Shayan Angizi et al.

Summary: Graphene-based pH sensors offer robust, durable, sensitive, and scalable detection of pH in various environments, with the sensing response dependent on the defect density level of graphene. This study reveals that different mechanisms, such as surface functional group-induced charge induction and electric double layer formation, control the sensing response at different ratios, ultimately determining the overall pH-sensing characteristics of graphene.

Different morphologies of WO3 and their exposed facets-dependent acetone sensing properties

Shaohong Wei et al.

Summary: Daisy-like hexagonal WO3 and rose-like monoclinic WO3 hierarchical structures were fabricated through hydrothermal technique, and their acetone sensing properties were evaluated. The hexagonal WO3 sensor exhibited high sensitivity, selectivity, rapid response/recovery, and repeatability to acetone at 260 degrees C, attributed to the synergistic effects of specific crystal facets and intracrystalline structure. This work has practical significance for acetone environmental monitoring and diabetes breath diagnosis.

Theoretical study of dissolved gas molecules in transformer oil adsorbed on intrinsic and Cr-doped InP3 monolayer

Yiming Liao et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of Cr doping on the adsorption properties of InP3 monolayer, showing that Cr doping could significantly improve the adsorption performance to H-2, C2H2, and CH4, with a particularly strong affinity towards C2H2. The Cr-InP3 monolayer may potentially serve as a sensitive material for detecting C2H2 gas.

Full Length Article Pd and Pt decorated GeSe monolayers as promising materials for SOF2 and SO2F2 sensing

Yao Wang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the structural and adsorption characteristics of metal-doped GeSe monolayers using density functional theory. The study reveals that conductivity significantly increases after Pd or Pt doping, with a decrease in work function. Furthermore, the dopant acts as the main electron donor in forming new chemical bonds through chemical adsorption, enhancing adsorption and sensing performance of the monolayers.

Adsorption properties of Ag2O-MoSe2 towards SF6 decomposed products

Hong Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that Ag2O-MoSe2 has a higher adsorption capacity for SF6 characteristic decomposition products in the order of H2S>SO2>SO2F2>SOF2. H2S and SO2 adsorption is chemisorption, while SOF2 and SO2F2 adsorption is physisorption. H2S is difficult to desorb after adsorption, whereas SO2 has a shorter desorption time, improving detection efficiency.
