Hydrogen Production via Methane Cracking on Dry-Coated Fe/ZrO2 with Support Recycle in a Fluidized Bed Process

Martin Keller et al.

Summary: Hydrogen can be produced from methane through catalytic cracking using a Fe2O3 coated on ZrO2 beads catalyst. The regeneration process of the catalyst support allows for recovery and reuse of the ZrO2 beads, with steam used to generate additional hydrogen by oxidizing iron to magnetite. The phase-pure Fe3O4/C byproduct formed during the regeneration step may have applications in fields such as wastewater treatment.

Effect of coexistence of siloxane on production of hydrogen and nanocarbon by methane decomposition using Fe catalyst

Megumu Inaba et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of siloxane coexistence on the production of hydrogen and carbon nanofiber by methane decomposition. Siloxane addition enhanced catalytic activity, accelerated deactivation, and resulted in carbon species formation at lower temperatures. Coexistence of CO2 and siloxane prolonged the catalytic lifetime by inhibiting carbon deposition on the catalyst.

Mo/MgO as an efficient catalyst for methane decomposition into COx-free hydrogen and multi-walled carbon nanotubes

Ahmed E. Awadallah et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of Mo/MgO catalysts were prepared, and it was found that the 30%Mo and 40%Mo/MgO catalysts exhibited higher activity and stability in methane conversion reaction and produced multi-walled carbon nanotubes bundles with uniform diameters. The presence of highly dispersed and stabilized Mo nanoparticles in the MgMoO4 matrix played a primary role in achieving high activity, particularly stability, and growth of the multi-walled carbon nanotubes bundles.
