Evidence for Prescribed NK Cell Ly-49 Developmental Pathways in Mice

Alberto J. Millan et al.

Summary: The surface expression of activating and inhibitory Ly-49 receptors on NK cell clusters is tightly regulated and correlated to the maturation stage, with clusters expressing at least one activating receptor showing the highest interdependencies. Immature NK cells proliferate more than mature NK cells, and MHC class I plays a crucial role in regulating Ly-49D and Ly-49G2 expression even in the absence of known MHC class I ligands in B6 mice.
