Uncertainty Analysis of Climate Change Impacts on Flood Frequency by Using Hybrid Machine Learning Methods

Mahdi Valikhan Anaraki et al.

Summary: In this study, a new framework combining metaheuristic algorithms, decomposition, and machine learning was applied for flood frequency analysis under climate change conditions. Results showed that MARS outperformed M5 model tree, and the analysis revealed a decrease in 200-year discharge for most scenarios. Additionally, hydrological models were identified as a significant source of uncertainty in both near and far future periods.

A hybrid deep learning algorithm and its application to streamflow prediction

Yongen Lin et al.

Summary: Process-based streamflow prediction is uncertain due to model parameters, but a data-driven DIFF-FFNN-LSTM model shows promise for accurate hourly predictions. The model was found to perform better than other machine learning and statistical models, with previous hour's streamflow identified as the most important input. The study highlights the potential of combining different data-driven methods in hydrological predictions.

Beetle antenna strategy based grey wolf optimization

Qingsong Fan et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a grey wolf optimization method based on a beetle antenna strategy (BGWO) to enhance global search ability by providing the leader wolf with a sense of hearing. A nonlinear dynamic control parameter update strategy is proposed to balance exploration and exploitation. Experimental results demonstrate that BGWO outperforms many state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of solution accuracy, convergence rate, and stability.
