Chlorinated paraffins in baby food from the German market

Summary: This study analyzed the presence of chlorinated paraffins in 21 infant formula and 10 instant baby cereal samples, with most results below the limit of quantification. The exposure of SCCPs in infant formula was lower than European pooled human milk samples by a factor of two.

Effects of extreme temperature on China's tea production

Summary: The study found that both extreme heat and cold are significantly reducing tea yields in China, with cold extremes currently affecting more than half of the tea production in the country. However, predictions show that climate change may have a positive net impact on tea yield in the near future, especially in northern regions, but new areas in southern China may face yield reductions due to intensified heat extremes.

Medium- and Short-Chain Chlorinated Paraffins in Mature Maize Plants and Corresponding Agricultural Soils

Summary: The spatial distributions of MCCPs and SCCPs in farmland soil and maize leaves were found marginally influenced by seasonal winds near a CP production facility. Most of the CPs were contained in the tissues directly exposed to airborne CPs within maize plants. Bioaccumulation and tissue distributions of the CPs within maize plants were specifically analyzed in this study.

Chlorinated paraffins in infant foods from the Chinese market and estimated dietary intake by infants

Summary: This study analyzed SCCPs and MCCPs in commonly used infant foods in the Chinese market and found that CP concentrations were highest in whole milk samples and for the first time detected in baby purees. The estimated MOE values suggested no health risks from CP contamination in infant foods. Principal component analysis showed that foods of animal origin were more influenced by MCCPs.

Concentrations and sources of short- and medium-chain chlorinated paraffins in farmed Chinese mitten crabs in China

Summary: This study analyzed the concentrations of short-chain CPs (SCCPs) and medium-chain CPs (MCCPs) in farmed crab samples, food web samples, and aquaculture environments in crab farms in Anhui Province, Jiangxi Province, and Shanghai, China. The results showed that SCCPs concentrations in the crab samples were higher than MCCPs concentrations, and SCCPs contamination in the crab food web samples was not directly related to CPs product use. Crab feed and the aquaculture environment could be sources of SCCPs to farmed crabs. No significant health risks to humans were found through consuming CPs in Chinese mitten crabs farmed in China.
