Antibiotics in urine of the general population: Exposure, health risk assessment, and food factors

Yujie Liu et al.

Summary: The study found that animal-derived foods, especially meat, milk, and eggs, are the main sources of unintentional exposure to antibiotics in humans. People who regularly consume these foods have higher levels of veterinary antibiotics or preferred veterinary antibiotics in their urine, indicating a direct correlation between food consumption and antibiotic intake. Therefore, more attention must be paid to the residues of unnecessary veterinary antibiotics derived from animal-sourced food.

Florfenicol induces renal toxicity in chicks by promoting oxidative stress and apoptosis

Xiao Wang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that FFC has nephrotoxicity, with increasing concentrations causing more severe kidney injury in chicks. FFC promotes oxidative stress response in chick kidneys by inhibiting related factors in the Nrf2-ARE pathway. Additionally, the upregulation of pro-apoptotic factors increases the apoptosis rate of renal cells, leading to excessive cell apoptosis and significantly affecting kidney function in chicks.

A systematic review on antibiotics misuse in livestock and aquaculture and regulation implications in China

Yitian Shao et al.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed the current situation of antibiotic misuse in livestock farming and aquaculture in China, proposing regulatory measures for the central government to address the issue. Recommendations include strictly implementing relevant laws and regulations, developing specific supporting measures, encouraging antibiotic substitutes research, and enhancing public awareness of rational antibiotic use to promote the regulation of antibiotic abuse.

Probabilistic Risk Assessment of Dietary Exposure to Chloramphenicol in Guangzhou, China

Yanyan Wang et al.

Summary: Chloramphenicol has been detected in various food commodities in Guangzhou, with molluscs showing the highest average levels. Dietary exposure to chloramphenicol, particularly for preschool children, was found to be notably high, indicating a potential health risk that warrants further investigation.
