Farzad Hasanvandian et al.

Summary: In this research, a novel BCO/N-CN composite was synthesized by introducing a new 1D/2D structure and creating surface oxygen vacancy (V-O) to serve as an efficient electron transfer highway. The composite showed excellent catalytic performance in the photodegradation of levofloxacin (LVFX) and maintained high stability over multiple reaction cycles. This study provides new insights into improving interfacial contact between components of heterojunctions and sheds light on charge migration behavior for efficient Z-type heterojunctions.

Photoactive g-C3N4/CuZIF-67 bifunctional electrocatalyst with staggered p-n heterojunction for rechargeable Zn-air batteries

Ren Ren et al.

Summary: Energy level matching and structural stabilization of semiconductor electrode materials are critical for improving the efficiency and durability of bifunctional catalysts for photo-enhanced rechargeable Zn-air batteries. We developed a photoactive bifunctional air-electrocatalyst comprising n-type g-C3N4 and p-type copper-doped ZIF67 (CuZIF-67) composite. It exhibits wide-range solar spectrum absorption and enhanced electron-hole pairs separation efficiency, leading to higher oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activities compared with single p-and n-type catalysts. It has photo-enhanced charge/discharge abilities and stable cycling performance.

A nano-enzymatic photoelectrochemical L-cysteine biosensor based on Bi2MoO6 modified honeycomb TiO2 nanotube arrays composite

Wanting Liu et al.

Summary: Improving light harvesting behavior and recognition sites of a sensor is an effective approach for achieving highly sensitive and selective detection of nano-enzymatic photoelectrochemical (PEC) L-cysteine (Cyst). In this study, a Bi2MoO6-TiO2 composite (BMO-HTNTs) was prepared, with honeycomb TiO2 nanotube arrays (HTNTs) serving as the light harvesting unit and Bi2MoO6 nanoparticles (BMO) as the recognition unit. The heterostructure between HTNTs and BMO improved the separation efficiency of electron-hole pairs, and the dispersed BMO nanoparticles on HTNTs provided more recognition sites for Cyst. The composite exhibited enhanced light absorption and higher photocurrent density, and Cyst was specifically recognized through Bi-S bonds while also acting as an electron donor to scavenge photogenerated holes, resulting in increased PEC responses. The PEC sensor showed excellent analytical performance for Cyst detection and demonstrated promising application in biological monitoring using urine and serum samples.
