Fire behavior and design of steel columns reinforced by prestressed CFRP strips

Summary: The study found that the elastic modulus and strength of CFRP materials decrease at high temperatures, and steel columns exposed to fire under compressive preload fail due to global buckling. Parametric studies showed that columns reinforced with PS CFRP can achieve high buckling capacities under room temperature and long-term fire exposure.

Buckling behavior analysis of prestressed CFRP-reinforced steel columns via FEM and ANN

Summary: This study investigated the complex nonlinear buckling behavior of prestressed carbon fiber reinforced polymer-reinforced steel columns using finite element method and artificial neural network. The influencing rules of key parameters on the columns' buckling capacity and reinforcing efficiency were determined, and a practical ANN tool was developed for predicting the buckling capacity of the columns.
