Summary: The thermal decomposition behavior of ammonium perchlorate (AP) directly influences the combustion performance of composite solid propellants (CSPs). Researchers prepared a highly active catalyst by entrapping Ni nanoparticles (NPs) inside three-dimensional hierarchically ordered porous carbon (3D HOPC) to enhance the effective thermal decomposition of AP. The obtained HOPC/Ni nanohybrid showed promising catalytic activity, lowering the high-temperature decomposition peak temperature of AP and increasing the heat release.
