Development of a Rapid Method for Monitoring Biodeterioration of Petroleum Products and Technical Fluids. Part I.

D. A. Sandzhieva et al.

Summary: The principles of a rapid method for monitoring biodeterioration of technical fluids, using metalworking fluids as examples, have been developed. It was found that the loss of biological resistance in metalworking fluids leads to irreversible changes in physicochemical and operational properties. A bank of test microorganisms needed to validate the rapid monitoring method for biodeterioration was compiled.

MEGA11 Molecular Evolutionary Genetics Analysis Version 11

Koichiro Tamura et al.

Summary: MEGA software, a mature tool for computational molecular evolution, has been enhanced with new additions for building timetrees of species, pathogens, and gene families using rapid relaxed-clock methods. These additions include methods for estimating divergence times, confidence intervals, and new options for tagging sequences with spatiotemporal sampling information. The enhancements aim to improve user experience, result quality, and the pace of biological discovery.

Ways to improve biocides for metalworking fluid

Patrick Di Martino

Summary: Microbial contamination of metalworking fluids is common and biocides are used to counter this issue; ideal biocides should meet various criteria such as broad-spectrum activity, low concentration usage, stability, etc.; the future lies in developing new biocidal molecules with ideal specifications, while also improving the performance of existing molecules on the market.
