Mesoporous composite Ni-C-N/SA for selective adsorption of methylene blue from water

Chengyi Dai et al.

Summary: The mesoporous Ni-C-N/Silica aerogel (Ni-C-N/SA) was prepared by impregnating the [Ni(tepa)](2+) complex onto a negatively charged silica aerogel support and subjecting it to suitable thermal treatment. The Ni-C-N/SA exhibited selective adsorption for methylene blue (MB) and showed increased adsorption capacity compared to raw silica aerogel (RSA). This was attributed to the binder effect of [Ni(tepa)](2+), leading to changes in pore volume, pore size distribution, and interaction between cationic dye and Ni-C-N components.

Single and simultaneous adsorption of Cr(VI) and Cu (II) on a novel Fe3O4/ pine cones gel beads nanocomposite: Experiments, characterization and isotherms modeling

Manel Touihri et al.

Summary: A novel biocomposite sorbent magnetic pine cone gel beads (MPCB) was synthesized and investigated for the removal of Cu(II) and Cr(VI) from aqueous solution, showing great potential for effectively adsorbing potentially toxic metals. The physicochemical properties of MPCB were characterized, and the adsorption mechanism, kinetics and equilibrium data were studied. In multi-components system, competitive and synergistic effects were observed, with the modified competitive Langmuir model providing a good fit for the Cu experimental data.

Selective adsorption and separation of organic dyes using functionalized cellulose nanocrystals

Nishil Mohammed et al.

Summary: The study evaluated cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) as adsorbents for selective adsorption and separation of organic dyes mixtures, finding that CNCs with surface functional groups can selectively adsorb dyes, with PD-CNCs showing high affinity for MB and MF-CNCs binding selectively to MO. The improved selectivity of PD-CNCs towards MB is attributed to synergistic binding interactions, such as electrostatic attraction, pi-pi stacking, and hydrogen bonding.

Changling Wu et al.

Summary: Nanocellulose was isolated from soybean residue using a combination of chemical and physical methods, resulting in smaller particle size, low polydispersity index, strong negative charge, high crystallinity, and enhanced thermal stability. The availability and low cost of nanocellulose in soybean residue make it a feasible choice for producing and developing new cellulose materials.
