Comprehensive validation of experimental and numerical natural ventilation predictions based on field measurement with experimental house

Summary: Field measurements, wind tunnel experiments, and CFD simulations were used to evaluate the natural ventilation rate of a symmetrical house with two openings in different wind directions. While the WTE and CFD generally agreed with field measurements, they tended to overestimate concentrations, especially in south and north winds. Improving the prediction accuracy of CFD simulations may require considering the large-scale airflow fluctuations around buildings.

Numerical study on natural ventilation of the wind tower: Effects of combining with different window configurations in a low-rise house

From spontaneous to strategic natural window ventilation: Improving indoor air quality in Swiss schools

Summary: The study found that over two-thirds of classrooms in Swiss schools with natural window ventilation exceeded the hygienic limit value of 2000 ppm for CO2. An intervention was implemented to improve ventilation behavior, which successfully reduced CO2 exposure in pilot classes and increased the proportion of teaching time within the recommended CO2 levels. Strict ventilation targets are possible with the intervention, which can be easily integrated into schools with natural window ventilation systems.
