Data Fusion Based Dynamic Diagnosis for Structural Defects of Shield Tunnel

X. Xie et al.

Summary: The study identified the causes of defects in shield tunnels using a data fusion-based dynamic diagnosis method, considering abnormal load, installation errors, and structural decay. Continuous and discrete Bayesian networks were utilized to develop reliable explanations for tunnel defects and dynamically diagnose them.

Prediction of ground settlement and the corresponding risk induced by tunneling: An application of rock engineering system paradigm

Hasan Mohammadi et al.

Summary: A new Ground Settlement Index (GSI) is proposed to evaluate ground movements due to tunneling, with 15 parameters identified as effective in tunneling-induced settlements. The study shows that certain parameters, such as advance rate, height to weight ratio, and tunnel lining closure, have a significant impact on ground settlement as per the GSI values. Risk levels of ground settlement were classified based on GSI, with no highly hazardous cases identified.
