Summary: In order to ensure a diverse and inclusive STEM workforce in the future, it is important to provide equal opportunities for people from different backgrounds in STEM outreach activities. The National Indigenous Science Education Program (NISEP) in Australia has successfully increased the aspirations and engagement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in secondary and tertiary education through the use of inclusive strategies such as community consultation, student leadership, mentorship, and the respectful use of Indigenous knowledge.
