State Variation in Low-Dose Computed Tomography Scanning for Lung Cancer Screening in the United States

Stacey A. Fedewa et al.

Summary: The national lung cancer screening rate remained steady between 3.3% and 3.4% in 2016 and 2017, but increased to 5.0% in 2018. There was wide variation in screening rates across states, with Kentucky being the only state where screening rates aligned with lung cancer burden.

Using Implementation Science to Disseminate a Lung Cancer Screening Education Intervention Through Community Health Workers

Lovoria B. Williams et al.

Summary: National lung cancer screening with low dose computed tomography (LDCT) uptake is suboptimal, and lack of awareness is a contributing factor. Trained Community Health Workers (CHWs) were effective in increasing screening awareness among disparate populations. Collaboration with a local health system showed promise in disseminating lung cancer screening education interventions.
