Effect of conductive carbon black on electrical conductivity and performance of tire tread compounds filled with carbon black/silica hybrid filler

Puchong Thaptong et al.

Summary: This study aimed to improve the electrical conductivity of the tread compound by partially replacing either CB or SiO2 with conductive carbon black (CCB) and found that while this replacement had some negative effects on heat build-up, wet grip, and fuel saving efficiency, it significantly improved electrical conductivity. At any given CCB loading, SiO2 replacement provided greater surface conductivity and higher abrasion resistance with lower wet grip and fuel saving efficiency compared to CB replacement.

Investigation of friction behavior between tire and pavement by molecular dynamics simulations

Fucheng Guo et al.

Summary: The friction performance between tire rubber and aggregates varies depending on the rubber-aggregate combinations, with aggregate-SBRaggregate layers showing relatively larger friction compared to BR and NR related layers. The friction between calcite and rubber is the smallest, while the friction between microcline and rubber is the largest. The velocities influence the friction behavior between quartz and rubber, with the coefficient of friction increasing initially and then decreasing with the increase of shear velocity.
