Ammonium iodide salt-doped polyvinyl alcohol polymeric electrolyte for UV-shielding filters: synthesis, optical and dielectric characteristics

M. Mohammed et al.

Summary: The study found that by incorporating different amounts of NH4I into PVA, the optical and electrical properties of polymer electrolyte films could be improved, making them suitable for optoelectronic and electronic devices. XRD analysis showed that as the NH4I content increased, the sample's crystallite size also increased, leading to a decrease in bandgaps. Additionally, the decrease in transmittance and the shift of UV-Vis absorption spectra to higher wavelengths indicated the importance of NH4I for light shielding devices.

Organosoluble, esterified starch as quasi-solid biopolymer electrolyte in dye-sensitized solar cell

Vidhya Selvanathan et al.

Summary: The fabrication of quasi-solid polymer electrolytes based on esterified starch has shown promising results for applications in dye-sensitized solar cells. The chemical modification of potato starch via phthaloylation method, and the incorporation of propylene carbonate, dimethylformamide, and lithium iodide resulted in high ionic conductivity and efficiency in the biopolymer gel electrolyte. This research suggests a sustainable and cost-effective approach for developing quasi-solid-state DSSC with starch-based electrolytes.

Physics characteristic of Lanea coromandelica (Houtt) Merr. based polymer and its potential application

Sahrul Saehana et al.

Summary: This study characterized a polymer from Lanea coromandelica fabricated using solution casting methods. Metal ions such as silicon and aluminum were found in the natural polymer-based membrane polymer electrolyte, with an electric conductivity of about 2 x 10^-2 S/m. It was predicted that the presence of metal ions contributed to the conductivity of the polymer electrolyte, making it potentially suitable for electronic device applications.
