Influence of applied voltage on optimal performance and durability of tungsten and vanadium oxide co-sputtered thin films for electrochromic applications

Ahmar Mehmood et al.

Summary: This research evaluated tungsten and vanadium oxide co-sputtered thin films under different applied cyclic voltages, revealing the appearance of new peaks and severely damaged morphologies after -1.3 V cycles. The current density reduction was significant for both bleaching and coloring, with the switching times of WO3-V2O5 thin films drastically reduced compared to WO3 films.

Gulsen Turkoglu et al.

Summary: Two novel selenophenothiophene homopolymers, P(SeT1) and P(SeT2), were electrochemically prepared for the first time from their corresponding monomers to explore their electrochromic behaviors. The cross-conjugated polymer P(SeT2) exhibited a color change from yellow to light green upon oxidation, while the conjugated polymer P(SeT1) showed an orange color in the neutral state and a claret red color when oxidized. P(SeT1) had a lower optical band gap and P(SeT2) displayed higher optical contrast and faster response time, indicating their potential for use in organic electrochromic materials.
