Increased Active Sites and Charge Transfer in the SnS2/TiO2 Heterostructure for Visible-Light-Assisted NO2 Sensing

Quan Sun et al.

Summary: The SnS2/TiO2 heterostructure sensor showed excellent performance in detecting NO2, with a high response factor of 526% towards 1 ppm NO2 and a short response/recovery time of 43/102 s at room temperature. The decrease in surface-adsorbed oxygen content confirmed that light illumination helped in clearing the surface of SnS2/TiO2, providing more active sites for NO2 sensing. Additionally, a flexible SnS2/TiO2 sensor was fabricated to confirm its potential application in portable and wearable devices.

MOF-derived Au-loaded Co3O4 porous hollow nanocages for acetone detection

Zhou Li et al.

Summary: Metal-organic-framework-derived nanostructured metal oxides, particularly Co3O4 porous hollow nanocages with Au-loading, displayed excellent acetone-sensing performance. The optimum sensor achieved a large response to 100 ppm acetone with a low detection limit at 1 ppm. Additionally, a sensor array combining pure Co3O4 and Au/Co3O4-4 sensors, along with PCA analysis, effectively distinguished acetone from other interfering gases.

Pd-Doping-Induced Oxygen Vacancies in One-Dimensional Tungsten Oxide Nanowires for Enhanced Acetone Gas Sensing

Ping Li et al.

Summary: Metal oxide semiconductors with tunable interface structures and properties have been widely used as gas sensing materials. Constructing appropriate heterogeneous interface structures and oxygen vacancies is important for tuning the sensing properties. This study demonstrates that Pd doping can effectively change the structure and composition of one-dimensional nanomaterials, leading to enhanced sensing properties towards acetone. The fabricated heterostructures in PdxW18O49 nanowires have shown excellent sensing selectivity and a wide detection range, making them promising for high-performance gas sensors.

The effect of shell thickness on gas sensing properties of core-shell fibers

Ming Zhang et al.

Summary: The gas-sensitive performance of Cr2O3-TiO2 core-shell fibers was enhanced by optimizing the thickness of TiO2 shell. The response of the fibers to acetone transitioned from p-type to n-type with increasing TiO2 shell thickness. The formation of Cr2O3-TiO2 heterojunction enabled the gas sensors to have short response and recovery time to the target gas.
