PMN-PT nanoparticle/SnO2 nanofiber heterostructures: Enhanced photocatalytic degradation performance by ultrasonic wave induced piezoelectric field

Sami Dursun et al.

Summary: Effective charge separation is crucial for improving the efficiency of photocatalysts in removing industrial toxic dye in wastewater. The combination of the piezoelectric effect and the semiconductor photocatalyst can significantly accelerate charge separation, leading to an increase in photocatalytic efficiency by about 29% under magnetic stirring and 32% under ultrasonic wave vibration.

Designing of TiO2/α-Fe2O3 coupled g-C3N4 magnetic heterostructure composite for efficient Z-scheme photo-degradation process under visible light exposures

Renji Rajendran et al.

Summary: A novel ternary magnetic nanocomposite composed of g-C3N4, TiO2, and alpha-Fe2O3 was successfully fabricated, demonstrating a high photocatalytic degradation efficiency of 95.7% for Rhodamine B under visible-light exposure. This efficient degradation is attributed to the synergistic interface among the three components in the nanocomposite, leading to effective electron/hole separation, enhanced redox species, and excellent visible-light utilization. Additionally, the magnetic nanocomposite showed great durability with a consistent high degradation rate for Rhodamine B after five consecutive cycles, making it a promising candidate for wastewater treatment.

Insight into the piezo-photo coupling effect of PbTiO3/CdS composites for piezo-photocatalytic hydrogen production

Xueyan Huang et al.

Summary: The study focused on the potential of the alternating piezoelectric field induced by periodic stress to enhance the performance of PbTiO3/CdS heterojunction complexes in H-2 production. Results showed that the introduction of alternating piezoelectric potential significantly increased the H-2 production rate, outperforming individual piezo-catalysis and photocatalysis. Finite element simulation further demonstrated the superior piezoelectric potential difference in the PbTiO3/CdS heterostructure compared to pure PbTiO3 or pure CdS.

Ultrasound-assisted synthesized BiFeO3 as FeOH+ promoted peroxymonosulfate activator for highly efficient degradation of tetracycline

Hongjie Xing et al.

Summary: A multiferroic BiFeO3 (BFO) catalyst was fabricated using a mild hydrothermal process with bath-ultrasound assisted dissolution of Fe(NO3)3 9H2O. The BFO-u catalyst exhibited high Fe2+ and OH- levels, efficiently degrading tetracycline hydrochloride. Visible-light assisted activation of PMS over BFO-u catalyst showed the highest degradation rate constant and recyclability.

Piezoelectric effect synergistically enhances the performance of Ti32-oxo-cluster/BaTiO3/CuS p-n heterojunction photocatalytic degradation of pollutants

Luping Zhou et al.

Summary: The study successfully synthesized a Ti-32-oxo-cluster/BaTiO3/CuS three-layer heterojunction material that can effectively utilize visible light and vibration energy for photo-piezoelectric synergistic catalytic degradation of pollutants, showing a high degradation rate. By inserting the piezoelectric material BaTiO3 between p-type CuS and n-type CTOC, the separation and migration of photo-generated carriers were promoted, achieving a photo-piezoelectric synergistic catalytic effect.

Efficient piezocatalytic removal of BPA and Cr(VI) with SnS2/CNFs membrane by harvesting vibration energy

Wenrou Tian et al.

Summary: In this study, a piezoelectric membrane of carbon nanofibers coated by fewlayers SnS2 nanosheets was successfully utilized for the high-efficiency piezocatalytic degradation of Cr(VI) and BPA. The enhanced catalytic efficiency under ultrasonication was attributed to the built-in electric field and band bending effects, as well as the outstanding electronic liquidity of the materials. It was found that the most oxidizing .OH could be generated in SnS2/CNFs, contributing to the efficient degradation of BPA.
