Combination of broad emission bands of Ti3+,4+/ Eu2+,3+ co-doped OH- free low silica calcium aluminosilicate glasses as emitting phosphors for white lighting devices

C. Y. Morassuti et al.

Summary: This study synthesized Ti and Eu co-doped low silica calcium aluminosilicate glasses for potential applications in white light generation. The glasses showed high luminescence quantum yield and broad emission bands, covering the visible region well. Energy transfer processes between luminescent ions were discussed, highlighting the potential of these glasses for white light devices.

Effect of Eu2+ doping on photoluminescence of Al2O3:Tb3+ functional coatings formed by plasma electrolytic oxidation

Stevan Stojadinovic et al.

Summary: Multifunctional coatings of Al2O3 co-doped with Tb3+ or Tb3+/Eu2+ were synthesized using rapid plasma electrolytic oxidation method on pure aluminum substrate. The addition of Tb3+ resulted in phase transformation of Al2O3, while incorporation of Eu2+ did not cause further phase changes. The coatings exhibited uniform distribution of rare-earth elements and unique photoluminescence properties.

Temperature sensing using ruby coatings created by plasma electrolytic oxidation

Aleksandar Ciric et al.

Summary: The thermographic properties of Cr3+-doped Al2O3 coatings created by plasma electrolytic oxidation were investigated. The coatings were found to be dense and uniformly distributed over the aluminum surface, with room-temperature photoluminescent measurements revealing specific emissions typical for Cr3+ in Al2O3 octahedral configuration. Temperature information was obtained from the coating's emission, with maximal sensitivities observed for different temperature-induced changes in the emissions.

Phosphor thermometry for nuclear decommissioning and waste storage

Alberto Sposito et al.

Summary: This study investigates the feasibility of using phosphor thermometry for long-term temperature monitoring of nuclear waste containers and storage racks, utilizing experiments and constructing a phosphor thermometer. Results indicate that the combination of MFG/silicone binder performed the best, with the intensity ratio technique providing the lowest measurement standard deviation but experiencing minor drift with thermal cycling, while the decay time technique showed no drift and had a measurement standard deviation of <= 0.3 degrees C.

Highly efficient Ti3+ self-doped TiO2 co-modified with carbon dots and palladium nanocomposites for disinfection of bacterial and fungi

Jingtao Zhang et al.

Summary: The Pd/CDs/Ti3+-TiO2 nanocomposites synthesized in this study exhibited superior photocatalyzed antibacterial activity against E. coli and five pathogenic agricultural fungi, with minimal dark cytotoxicity on HepG2 and V-79 cells. Additionally, the recycling capacity for the photodisinfective activity of the nanocomposites was found to be unchanged after five cycles. Four active species contributing to the photoinduced antimicrobial activity of the catalyst were identified as h(+), center dot O-2(-), center dot OH, and e(-).
