Constructing N-doping biomass-derived carbon with hierarchically porous architecture to boost fast reaction kinetics for higfh-performance lithium storage

Dong Zeng et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates a novel and effective strategy of dual system activation process to construct the nitrogen-doped biomass-derived carbon with hierarchically porous architecture, which improves conductivity, facilitates charge transfer, and decreases diffusion path for lithium-ion transport. The electrode displays a high lithium-ion storage capacity and superior stability, while the assembled asymmetric lithium-ion capacitor exhibits excellent cycling stability and delivers a high power density. This dual system activation strategy may inspire the reasonable design of new generation progressive carbon-based electrodes for high-performance lithium storage devices.

N/O double-doped biomass hard carbon material realizes fast and stable potassium ion storage

Mengmeng Yang et al.

Summary: N/O co-doped cage-type biomass carbon (NOBC) prepared in this study exhibited superhigh long-cycling performance and rate performance as the anode of a potassium ion battery. The excellent performance can be attributed to the unique structure, internal 3D carbon network, and N/O co-doping, contributing to high reversible capacity even at high current densities. The pseudo-capacitance mechanism and N/O double doping were crucial in promoting K ion adsorption and improving conductivity in NOBC materials.
