Measurement Properties of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures for Pruritus: An Updated Systematic Review

Janine Topp et al.

Summary: This systematic review provides an update on measurement properties of patient-reported outcome measures for pruritus. The review includes 41 studies evaluating 38 different measures, with mixed results in the methodological quality of the studies. It identifies the most appropriate measures for assessing pruritus severity and pruritus-specific health-related QOL.

The utility of PROMIS domain measures in dermatologic care

Fatema Esaa et al.

Summary: PRO measures are crucial in clinical care, but a validated broad-spectrum measure suitable for all dermatology patients is currently lacking. An evaluation of a computer-adaptive health assessment using three PROMIS domains found that high PROMIS scores were associated with clinically relevant outcomes in various skin conditions.

Outcome assessment in dermatology clinical trials and cochrane reviews: call for a dermatology-specific outcome taxonomy

T. Lange et al.

Summary: Standardized outcome reporting is crucial for trial evidence synthesis and translation of findings into clinical decision-making. The OMERACT 2.0 Filter provides a framework for consistent reporting of outcomes, but there is currently a lack of a uniform dermatology-specific reporting strategy. Our study aimed to map efficacy/effectiveness outcomes assessed in dermatological trials to the OMERACT 2.0 Filter to develop a dermatology-specific outcome taxonomy, highlighting the need for precise and consistent outcome definitions in dermatology trials.

IDQoL, CDLQI and the 45-item CADIS received a sufficient content validity rating during the HOME VII meeting in Japan: a group discussion study

M. Gabes et al.

Summary: Through group discussions at the HOME VII Meeting, the content validity of quality-of-life candidate instruments for atopic eczema in infants, children, and adults was assessed. The Infant's Dermatitis Quality of Life Index, Children's Dermatology Life Quality Index, and Childhood Atopic Dermatitis Impact Scale were rated as having sufficient content validity, while other instruments had inconsistent ratings. The content validity rating allowed for comparison of all candidate instruments and informed the consensus-seeking process for selecting a core instrument for the quality-of-life domain.

Measurement properties of patient-reported outcome measures for eczema control: a systematic review

B. L. Stuart et al.

Summary: The HOME initiative established a core outcome set for eczema clinical trials, including the domain for patient-reported eczema control. A review of validated instruments identified two tools, RECAP and ADCT, as suitable patient-reported outcome instruments for measuring atopic eczema control.
