Evidence of symmetry lowering in antiferromagnetic metal TmB12 with dynamic charge stripes

Summary: Precise angle-resolved magnetoresistance and magnetization measurements have revealed strong charge transport and magnetic anisotropy, as well as the emergence of multiple magnetic phases in the ground state of isotopically B-11-enriched TmB12 antiferromagnetic metal. The angular H-phi phase diagrams of the antiferromagnetic state were analyzed for the first time and it was proposed that the symmetry lowering is responsible for the appearance of radial phase boundaries between different phases. The Neel field in the (110) plane was found to have significant anisotropy in (TmB12)-B-11 unlike the isotropic AF-P boundary in (HoB12)-B-11.

Anisotropy of the Hall Effect in the Paramagnetic Phase of Ho0.8Lu0.2B12 Cage Glass

Summary: Detailed measurements of the Hall effect in the paramagnetic phase of Ho0.8Lu0.2B12 antiferromagnet up to a magnetic field of 80 kOe in the temperature range of 1.9-300 K were conducted. The transition to the cage glass phase at around 60 K showed the appearance of a positive Hall resistance component in addition to the negative Hall effect. The anisotropy in the Hall effect of Ho0.8Lu0.2B12 was attributed to the interaction of charge carriers with dynamic charge stripes.

Hall effect and symmetry breaking in the nonmagnetic metal LuB12 with dynamic charge stripes

Summary: A comprehensive study of magnetoresistance and Hall effect in nonmagnetic metal LuB12 single crystals was conducted, revealing an anomalous positive contribution to Hall effect and its association with magnetoresistance peak. The metal exhibits inhomogeneous distribution of electron density, and various scenarios involving Fermi surface topology, relaxation time of charge carriers, and interaction with external magnetic field and fluctuating charge stripes were analyzed. The origin of SdH oscillations in this nonequilibrium metal with electron phase separation and strong charge carrier scattering was discussed.
