Beneficial effects of biodelivery of brain-derived neurotrophic factor and gold nanoparticles from functionalized electrospun PLGA scaffold for nerve tissue engineering

Reihaneh Seyedebrahimi et al.

Summary: This study suggests a potential method for inducing the differentiation of h-ADSCs into SCs by tuning the surface of aligned poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanofibers to enhance attachment and proliferation of h-ADSCs on the scaffold. Additionally, the presence of BDNF and AuNPs on scaffold significantly improved the expression of SC markers compared to the control group.

Electronic, mechanical and thermal properties of SiO2 nanotube interacting with poly lactic-co-glycolic acid: Density functional theory and molecular dynamics studies

Motahare Masoumi et al.

Summary: In this study, the interactions of PLGA monomer with CNT and SiO2NT were investigated using density functional theory. The results revealed a chemisorption interaction between PLGA and SiO2NT, while a physisorption interaction was observed between PLGA and CNT. Additionally, molecular dynamics simulations were used to study the mechanical properties of these materials, showing an increase in mechanical properties when PLGA interacts with SiO2NT.

Insight into glass transition temperature and mechanical properties of PVA/TRIS functionalized graphene oxide composites by molecular dynamics simulation

Chengyuan Dong et al.

Summary: Through MD simulation, the glass transition temperature and mechanical properties of PVA, PVA/GO, and PVA/Tris-GO were investigated, revealing that PVA/Tris-GO exhibited higher Tg due to stronger hydrogen bonding interactions, with significant enhancements in mechanical properties at a 2.5 wt% addition of Tris-GO. The introduction of Tris-GO also decreased the mobility and flexibility of PVA chains within the PVA/Tris-GO composites.

M. K. Ahmed et al.

Summary: In this study, magnetite nanoparticles doped with antimicrobial silver ions were incorporated into electrospun nanofibrous epsilon-polycaprolactone scaffolds. The results demonstrated that increasing silver content in the scaffolds enhanced cell adhesion and growth, as well as antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus. The wound healing rate in rats also increased proportionally with the concentration of silver in the scaffolds, indicating the potential of these composite nanofibrous scaffolds for wound dressings and reconstructive skin therapies.
