The Role of Epigenetics in the Chronic Sinusitis with Nasal Polyp

Summary: Recent studies have shown that certain genes in CRSwNP patients are hypermethylated or hypomethylated compared to controls, leading to either suppression or elevation of gene expression. Epigenetic changes, including the levels of HDACs, miRNAs, and DNA methylation, play a role in the immunology of CRSwNP and may contribute to glucocorticoid resistance. Epigenetic inhibitors show potential efficacy in the treatment of CRSwNP and may serve as novel therapeutic targets for this disease.
