Full-length sequencing of Ginkgo biloba L. reveals the synthesis of terpenoids during seed development

Xin Han et al.

Summary: The study used single-molecule real-time (SMRT) technology and Illumina sequencing to sequence six tissues related to ginkgo reproductive growth and development, predicting 4019 novel genes and 22,845 novel isoforms, some of which are related to terpene synthesis. Differential gene expression analysis revealed 95 genes related to seed development and 47 genes related to terpene biosynthesis pathways. Real-time quantitative reverse transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) showed diverse and complex expression trends for phosphosynthase family members during seed development.

Systematic investigation and expression profiles of the GbR2R3-MYB transcription factor family in ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba L.)

Xiaoming Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, 69 GbR2R3-MYB genes were identified and classified into 33 groups based on their amino acid sequence and gene structure characteristics. Expression profiling in different tissues and developmental stages revealed temporal and spatial expression patterns, with specific genes showing responses to abiotic stresses and hormonal exposures. The investigation of GbR2R3-MYB19 indicated its nuclear localization and transcriptional activity, suggesting potential roles in the regulation of biological processes.

Overexpression of the Ginkgo biloba WD40 gene GbLWD1-like improves salt tolerance in transgenic Populus

Yue Xin et al.

Summary: WD40 transcription factors are an ancient protein family that are important for plant growth and stress resistance. The study identified a new WD40 gene, named GbLWD1-like, in Ginkgo biloba, which was found to enhance plant growth and salt tolerance in transgenic plants. Additionally, under salt stress, the transgenic plants showed higher expression levels of genes related to salt tolerance compared to control plants.

Genome-wide identification and expression analysis of LBD transcription factor genes in Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis)

Bin Huang et al.

Summary: This study identified 55 members of the LBD gene family in moso bamboo, divided into two classes with relatively conserved gene structures and sequences with hormone response-associated cis-regulatory elements. The LBD genes in moso bamboo showed greater collinearity with rice and maize than with Arabidopsis and pepper. The research provides a theoretical basis and candidate genes for studying the molecular breeding mechanism of rapid growth in moso bamboo.

Genome-Wide Identification, Evolution, and Expression Analysis of LBD Transcription Factor Family in Bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Zhenyu Wang et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the wheat LBD family through an in silico genome-wide search method and identified a total of 90 TaLBDs, classified into two classes with similar gene structure organizations within subfamilies.RNA-seq data analysis revealed the expression patterns of TaLBDs in different tissues and under various stresses, while qPCR analysis validated the differential expression of homoeologous genes. The study also showed slightly higher genetic diversity of TaLBDs in the landrace population compared to the genetically improved germplasm population with asymmetry at the subgenome level.
