Maize endophytic microbial-communities revealed by removing PCR and 16S rRNA sequencing and their synthetic applications to suppress maize banded leaf and sheath blight

Mohsin Ali et al.

Summary: Through R-PCR and 16S rRNA sequencing, microbial communities from maize plants grown in different soil types were identified. By screening bacteria with antagonistic effects against Rhizoctonia solani WH1 and preparing synthetic communities (SycomA and SycomB), it was found that these treatments could effectively suppress disease levels and promote growth attributes in maize.

Antimicrobial Peptides from Plants: A cDNA-Library Based Isolation, Purification, Characterization Approach and Elucidating Their Modes of Action

Md Samiul Islam et al.

Summary: Plants in natural ecosystems face threats from microbial diseases, but have developed a strong immune system to combat infections. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) in plants are environmentally friendly, anti-pathogenic, and safe for humans. A new isolation technique using high-throughput cDNA libraries and the Bacillus subtilis expression system allows for large-scale screening of unique or homologous AMPs.

In vitro and in silico approach of fungal growth inhibition by Trichoderma asperellum HbGT6-07 derived volatile organic compounds

Md Kamaruzzaman et al.

Summary: The study identified Trichoderma asperellum isolate HbGT6-07 as a potential biocontrol agent with effective antifungal properties both in vitro and in silico. The production of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by HbGT6-07 was shown to inhibit fungal growth, and molecular docking analysis revealed specific VOCs with potential antifungal activity against targeted proteins in different fungal species. Overall, the findings suggest that HbGT6-07 could be a promising candidate for biological control strategies.
