The coordination of OsbZIP72 and OsMYBS2 with reverse roles regulates the transcription ofOsPsbS1in rice

Xiangkui Fu et al.

Summary: In rice, OsPsbS1 expression is directly regulated by OsbZIP72 and inhibited by OsMYBS2, with new cis-elements GACAGGTG and CTAATC playing specific roles in the OsPsbS1 promoter. OsbZIP72 is regulated by SAPK1 and the ABA signaling pathway, while GF14A protein affects the repression activity of OsMYBS2 by regulating its nucleocytoplasmic shuttling.

Proteomic analysis reveals the role of exogenous cysteine in alleviating chromium stress in maize seedlings

Hakan Terzi et al.

Summary: The study found that cysteine can alleviate the adverse effects of chromium on maize seedling growth by modulating antioxidant enzyme activities and increasing endogenous cysteine content to enhance chromium tolerance. Exogenous cysteine significantly affected protein expression in root tissues, participating in various biological pathways such as stress response and protein metabolism.

New insights into the response of maize to fluctuations in the light environment

Jianzhou Qu et al.

Summary: By constructing a gene coexpression network from dynamic transcriptomic data of maize seedlings exposed to different light environments, this study identified modules and hub genes closely related to photosynthesis, as well as genes associated with regulatory networks, duplication events, domestication, and improvement. It was found that a significant portion of hub genes underwent duplication events, with a majority being related to photosynthesis. The study also revealed the dynamic expression atlas of gene sets involved in chloroplast photosynthetic apparatus and photosynthetic carbon assimilation under various light conditions, providing insights into the key mechanisms and regulatory networks underlying photosynthesis in maize.

Comparative proteomic analysis reveals insights into the dynamic responses of maize (Zea mays L.) to Setosphaeria turcica infection

Yuwei Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the proteomes of maize leaves post-inoculation with Setosphaeria turcica, revealing the key role of GST family proteins and hub proteins like ZmGEB1 in defense responses against the infection. The results provided insight into the complex responses triggered by S. turcica at the protein level and laid the foundation for further studies on the interaction process between maize and S. turcica infection.

Reducing N Application by Increasing Plant Density Based on Evaluation of Root, Photosynthesis, N Accumulation and Yield of Wheat

Xiangqian Zhang et al.

Summary: The experiment found that increasing plant density decreased root growth indicators for individual plants, but improved root growth for the population. Nitrogen accumulation per plant decreased with increasing density, while leaf area index and photosynthetic efficiency increased.
