Activation of Functional Somatic Stem Cells Promotes Endogenous Tissue Regeneration

W. Li et al.

Summary: Resveratrol promotes the stemness of periodontal ligament derived stem cells (PDLSCs) by activating stem cell and osteoprogenitor markers, and improves their self-renewal and multipotent differentiation abilities. Resveratrol treatment also enhances the immunomodulation of PDLSCs. Mechanistically, resveratrol activates the ERK/WNT crosstalk through elevation of olfactory and growth factor signaling pathways, leading to upregulation of RUNX2 and FASL expression for osteogenesis and immunomodulation, respectively. In a periodontitis animal model, resveratrol administration partially rescues bone loss by activating endogenous somatic stem cells and inhibiting inflammatory T-cell infiltration.

Growth factor-dependent ErbB vesicular dynamics couple receptor signaling to spatially and functionally distinct Erk pools

Yannick Brueggemann et al.

Summary: The spatial distribution of growth factor receptors is regulated by growth factor-dependent vesicular dynamics, which in turn affects downstream signaling pathways and cellular functions. Different growth factor stimuli can lead to distinct cellular responses, potentially mediated by vesicular recycling to maintain steady-state amounts of active receptors.

How Machine Learning and Statistical Models Advance Molecular Diagnostics of Rare Disorders Via Analysis of RNA Sequencing Data

Lea D. Schlieben et al.

Summary: Rare diseases collectively impact approximately 350 million people worldwide, with nearly 6,000 distinct rare disorders identified. Whole exome sequencing is improving diagnostic rates, but challenges in variant detection and interpretation remain. RNA sequencing is increasingly being used as a complementary diagnostic tool to enhance detection and interpretation of pathogenic variants, leading to diagnostic rates of 10-35% in rare diseases.
