Overexpression of miR-132-3p contributes to neuronal protection in in vitro and in vivo models of Alzheimer's disease

Chong Zeng et al.

Summary: The study revealed the neuroprotective roles of miR-132-3p in an AD mouse model, showing improvements in spatial memory deficits, reduction of amyloid plaque accumulation and apoptosis, and promotion of hippocampal cell numbers. Additionally, TSA was found to increase the expression level of miR-132-3p in neurons burdened with Aβ1-42, leading to higher levels of synaptic proteins. The results suggest that miR-132-3p may be a promising therapeutic target for AD treatment.

Serum Based miRNA as a Diagnostic Biomarker for Multiple Sclerosis: a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Samar A. Zailaie et al.

Summary: The systematic review and meta-analysis identified 19 serum miRNAs differentially expressed in multiple sclerosis patients, with 8 downregulated, 11 upregulated, and 1 discordant. The pooled AUC was 72% for overall MS patients and PPMS, indicating high sensitivity and specificity. A miRNA panel of four miRNAs showed high sensitivity (73%) and specificity (68%) in distinguishing MS from control groups.

Mechanism of miR-132-3p Promoting Neuroinflammation and Dopaminergic Neurodegeneration in Parkinson's Disease

Xin Gong et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the effect and mechanism of miR-132-3p in regulating neuroinflammation and dopaminergic neuron degeneration in Parkinson's disease (PD). The results showed elevated expression of miR-132-3p and decreased expression of GLRX in PD patients and cell models. Overexpression of miR-132-3p induced activation of microglial cells, which could be reversed by GLRX overexpression.

Combination of serum and CSF neurofilament-light and neuroinflammatory biomarkers to evaluate ALS

Alexandre Brodovitch et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the prognostic and diagnostic potential of Neurofilament-Light (Nf-L) and neuroinflammatory biomarkers in ALS patients. The combination of Nf-L, ICAM-1, and IFN-gamma levels show promise in differentiating ALS patients from those with Inflammatory Peripheral Neuropathies (IPN) with improved sensitivity and specificity. The measurement of these biomarkers in CSF and serum could be useful in the differential diagnosis of ALS.

Serum miR-128 Serves as a Potential Diagnostic Biomarker for Alzheimer's Disease

Ming Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that miR-128 was significantly upregulated in serum samples of AD patients and negatively correlated with MMSE scores. MiR-128 showed good diagnostic performance when used alone or in combination with other factors. Serum miR-128 levels were positively correlated with inflammatory factors IL-113 and TNF-alpha levels.
