Zhongliang Zhang et al.

Summary: The discharge characteristics of binary particles in a rectangular hopper with an inclined bottom were studied using the discrete element method. It was found that the hopper width has minimal effect on discharge, the mass discharge rate is linearly related to the 3/2 power of orifice width, and the mass discharge rate increases exponentially with the decrease in hopper angle. The friction coefficient between particles plays a leading role in the discharge process.
