Dynamic dissolution and re-adsorption of molybdate ion in iron incorporated nickel-molybdenum oxyhydroxide for promoting oxygen evolution reaction

Hanxiao Liao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of escaped inactive ion from pre-catalysts on the performance of alkaline oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The results show that the escaped ion promotes the reconstruction of the catalyst and enhances the OER activity. This finding enriches our understanding of the inactive-ion effect on alkaline OER and provides a pathway for developing efficient electrocatalysts.

Dynamically Stable Active Sites from Surface Evolution of Perovskite Materials during the Oxygen Evolution Reaction

Pietro P. Lopes et al.

Summary: Perovskite oxides exhibit OER activity due to the interaction between a thin surface layer of Co hydr(oxy)oxide and trace-level Fe species in the electrolyte, leading to the creation of dynamically stable active sites. This surface evolution process driven by A-site dissolution and O-vacancy creation improves stability and activity-stability factor for CoOxHy/LSCO compared to nanoscale Co-hydr(oxy)oxide clusters.
