The mean stress and phase angle effect on multiaxial fatigue behavior of a TiAl alloy: Failure analysis and life modeling

Qiang Zhang et al.

Summary: The mechanical properties of a TiAl alloy under combined tension-torsion fatigue loadings were investigated, and the correspondence between multiaxial fatigue life and failure behavior was explored. The S-L fatigue criterion was critically reviewed and modified, with the introduction of a correction factor to make the MWCM method feasible for multiaxial fatigue life prediction. Experimental results showed the proposed method to be accurate compared to Matake method and McDiarmid method.
