Chemical toxicity assessment and Physiological investigation in rats exposed to pyrethroid insecticide type 1 and possible mitigation of propolis

Amal Hassan et al.

Summary: The current investigation shows that propolis has potential protective effects against the toxic effects of permethrin in rats. It can improve liver, kidney, and cardiac functions, reduce apoptosis and lipid peroxide levels, and decrease thyroid hormones and proinflammatory cytokines. The propolis extract contains valuable phenolics and flavonoids, which contribute to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Extraction and Analysis of Microcrystalline Cellulose from Delignified Serte Leaf Fiber Wastes

Misgana Taye et al.

Summary: In this study, microcrystalline cellulose was extracted from Dracaena Steudneri Egler (Serte) fiber waste, serving as a new source for preparation and waste utilization. Basic chemical pretreatments were applied to remove impurities, resulting in microcrystalline cellulose with improved thermal stability compared to commercial sources. Characterization included X-ray diffraction, FTIR, thermogravimetric analysis, and particle size analysis.

Evaluation of equilibrium, kinetic and hydraulic characteristics of Indian bentonites in presence of heavy metal for landfill application

Saswati Ray et al.

Summary: The study evaluates the effects of varying Zn2+ concentrations on the surface morphology, hydraulic properties, and sorption capacity of two Indian bentonites. The Langmuir isotherm and Pseudo-second order kinetic models were found to be the best fit for both bentonites. Bentonites with high cation exchange potential, swelling behavior, and specific surface area displayed higher removal and adsorption capacity at higher Zn2+ concentrations.

Catalytic pyrolysis of microcrystalline cellulose extracted from rice straw for high yield of hydrocarbon over alkali modified ZSM-5

Nishu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the pyrolysis behavior of microcrystalline cellulose extracted from rice straw, and the modification of ZSM-5 with different molar concentrations of NaOH solution. Results showed that alkali treatment promoted the production of aromatics and olefins, with changes in activation energy values.
