Interactions of Cr2O3-Al2O3-ZrO2 refractory with slags in an entrained-flow coal-water slurry gasifier

Shuai Wang et al.

Summary: The corroded microstructures of Cr2O3-Al2O3-ZrO2 refractory brick in an industrial opposed multi-burner coal water slurry gasifier were investigated. It was found that a chromite spinel isolation layer rich in iron and magnesium formed on the surface of the corroded brick body. The results indicated that molten slag entering through gaps generated the spinel layer, destroying the dense structures of the refractory surface. Additionally, in a high chrome brick corrosion experiment, 3 μm sized spinel was observed covering the surface. The FactSage calculation results showed that the amount of spinel produced would drop significantly as slag penetrated.

Corrosion of high-chrome refractory materials by high-sodium slag in an entrained-flow gasifier

Kuiyu Liu et al.

Summary: An analysis of the corrosion of high-chrome refractory by high-sodium slag in an industrial gasifier revealed that reaction and penetration layers were formed, and complex spinel existed throughout the penetration path. The interaction between the high-chrome refractory and high-sodium slag could exist until Fe and Mg elements were exhausted. The presence of Na changed the slag's characteristics, promoting its penetration into the refractory.

Numerical simulation for size optimization of refractory support frame in OMB gasifier

Yuchen Shi et al.

Summary: The numerical simulation showed that as the thickness of the support plate increased, the equivalent stress at the center gradually decreased. With increasing the length of the support plate, the stress value and the overall fluctuation were both the smallest at a length of 230 mm. The optimal size of the support plate helped reduce stress and prolong the service life of the refractory support frame.
