Halloysite nanotubes as nanoreactors for heterogeneous micellar catalysis

Lorenzo Lisuzzo et al.

Summary: The functionalization of halloysite with sodium alkylsulphates generated hydrophobic microdomains with enhanced microviscosity, leading to larger enhancements on the rate constant of the Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction. This study shows the potential of surfactant/halloysite hybrids as efficient and reusable nanocatalysts based on their unique microviscosity and polarity properties.

Multifunctional catalysts based on palladium nanoparticles supported on functionalized halloysites: Applications in catalytic C-C coupling, selective oxidation and dehalogenation reactions

Miguel Diaz-Sanchez et al.

Summary: A series of hybrid Sup-L-Pd catalysts with different nano-sized supports, ligands and quantities of Pd were prepared and studied for their catalytic activity in C-C coupling, selective oxidations, and dehalogenation-hydrogenation processes. Among them, the HNTs-PPETS-Pd0.25 catalyst showed the most promising catalytic behavior and potential reusability in various catalytic processes. It demonstrated high turnover frequency values in catalytic reactions and good recyclability with low Pd leaching after consecutive cycles.

Efficient hydro-finishing of polyalfaolefin based lubricants under mild reaction condition using Pd on ligands decorated halloysite

Mahtab Tabrizi et al.

Summary: A novel catalyst was designed and fabricated for efficient hydrofinishing of polyalfaolefin based lubricants, showing excellent activity under mild reaction conditions and recyclability. The catalyst contained tiny Pd nanoparticles homogeneously dispersed on functionalized halloysite, with insignificant Pd leaching and loss of activity over multiple cycles.

Exploring halloysite nanotubes as catalyst support for methane combustion: Influence of support pretreatment

Yahia H. Ahmad et al.

Summary: Chemical modification of halloysite nanotubes and deposition of palladium results in catalysts with enhanced catalytic performance for methane combustion, with Pd/HNTs-NaOH showing the highest activity and stability among them. The confinement of Pd nanoparticles at the inner surface of the nanotubes enhances catalyst-support interaction and increases resistance to sintering at high temperatures, leading to improved catalytic efficiency.
