Studies on the Antibacterial and Catalytic Activities of Silver Nanoparticles Synthesized from Cyperus rotundus L.

Summary: This study demonstrates a simple and environmentally friendly method for synthesizing silver nanoparticles using the extract of the Cyperus rotundus L. plant. The antibacterial activity of AgNps against Escherichia coli and its catalytic activity for degradation of azo dyes were investigated. The results suggest that AgNps can inhibit the growth of E. coli and catalyze dye degradation through the production of reactive oxygen species, leading to cell death.
