Non-Stereogenic Dinuclear Ir(III) Complex with a Molecular Rack Design to Afford Efficient Thermally Enhanced Red Emission

Marsel Z. Shafikov et al.

Summary: This study reports the design, synthesis and luminescent properties of a dinuclear Ir(III) complex, which showed superior photophysical properties compared to its mononuclear analogues. The complex exhibited highly efficient red emission and a faster radiative rate. Temperature-dependent studies revealed behaviors reminiscent of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) in both the dinuclear and mononuclear complexes.

Recent Advances in Synthesis of Molecular Heteroleptic Osmium and Iridium Phosphorescent Emitters

Maria L. Buil et al.

Summary: The application of new procedures in organometallic synthesis using alternative starting complexes has significantly enhanced the preparation of osmium(IV), osmium(II), and iridium(III) emitters since 2012. The choice of precursors should consider the ligands, as they play a role in emitter synthesis. Three different functions of ligands in the revised procedures have been identified, including directing selectivity in sigma-bond ruptures, participating in new coordinated groups, and acting as internal bases in activation reactions. Additionally, the ability of polyhydrides OsH6((PPr3)-Pr-i)(2) and IrH5((PPr3)-Pr-i)(2) to activate C-H bonds is highlighted as a key factor in the success of many cases.

Pseudo-Tris(heteroleptic) Red Phosphorescent Iridium(III) Complexes Bearing a Dianionic C,N,C',N'-Tetradentate Ligand

Vadim Adamovich et al.

Summary: Two new phosphorescent red iridium(III) emitters have been successfully synthesized, including a carbonyl derivative and an acetylacetonate compound. The tetradentate 6e-donor ligand of these complexes is formed by two different bidentate units, and the link between the bidentate units reduces the number of possible stereoisomers and allows for noticeable stereocontrol.

Phosphorescent [3+2+1] coordinated Ir(III) cyano complexes for achieving efficient phosphors and their application in OLED devices

Yuan Wu et al.

Summary: A series of neutral iridium complexes with tridentate bis-NHC carbene chelates, bidentate C<^>N ligands, and monodentate ions have been systematically designed and synthesized, showing specific roles in tuning UV absorption and emission properties. The C<^>N ligands play a crucial role in this tuning process, while the tridentate bis-NHC carbene chelates influence the lowest absorption band and emission energy.
