Growth, yield, nutrients uptake and anatomical properties of direct seeding and transplanting maize (Zea mays L.) plants under arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and water stress

Saeed Rezazadeh et al.

Summary: The study found that under moderate water stress conditions, the AMF inoculation rate was significantly higher than under well-watered and severe stress conditions. Transplanted plants had higher biomass and kernel yield compared to directly seeded plants. Water stress reduced the total chlorophyll content.

Effects of Organic Fertilizers on the Soil Microorganisms Responsible for N2O Emissions: A Review

Cristina Lazcano et al.

Summary: The use of organic fertilizers impacts the structure and function of nitrogen cycling microbial communities, with unprocessed manure potentially increasing abundance and activity of nitrifying and denitrifying microorganisms. Processed manure, such as compost, vermicompost and biochar, can also stimulate these microorganisms but with comparatively lower N2O emissions than raw manure. Through a best management practices framework, negative environmental impacts of organic fertilizers can be minimized while improving soil health and sustaining food production systems.

Changes in Growth, Physiology, and Fatty Acid Profile of Rapeseed Cultivars Treated with Vermicompost Under Drought Stress

Akram Feizabadi et al.

Summary: The management of organic fertilizers and irrigation regimes have become the main focus in agricultural practices in recent years. The study evaluated the growth, physiological properties, and fatty acid composition of six rapeseed cultivars under different irrigation regimes and vermicompost application. The results showed that drought stress reduced plant growth and yield, but increased proline concentration, with Zafar and Hyola4815 cultivars performing the best under well-water conditions.
