Experimental determination of thermodynamic properties of terpene and aromatic ketones by gas chromatography

L. A. A. P. Fonseca et al.

Summary: This study experimentally determined the thermodynamic properties of oxygenated compounds in essential oils, such as enthalpy of vaporization and normal boiling temperature, using gas chromatography technique. The results showed that gas chromatography can be a reliable tool for obtaining accurate thermodynamic data, with small relative deviations. Additionally, unpublished data for specific compounds were reported in this research.

Flavonoids in Cannabis sativa: Biosynthesis, Bioactivities, and Biotechnology

Johanna L. Bautista et al.

Summary: While cannabis synthesizes a wide range of phytochemicals, research has primarily focused on two phytocannabinoids, THC and CBD, for their distinctive activities in humans. Flavonoid metabolism and the entourage effect are currently understudied, with cannflavins, unique to cannabis, being a topic of recent research focus. Advances in omics tools are enabling further exploration of flavonoid metabolism and manipulation of flavonoid production for potential health benefits and drug development.

Waste glass catalyst for biodiesel production from waste chicken fat: Optimization by RSM and ANNs and toxicity assessment

Rauf Foroutan et al.

Summary: In this study, a heterogeneous solid base catalyst was manufactured by reacting waste glass with NaOH for biodiesel production from chicken fat. The catalyst showed high efficiency and the biodiesel production rate could be optimized by adjusting key variables. Check on quality and biocompatibility of the produced biodiesel were conducted according to ASTM D 6751 and EN 11214 standards.

Efficient Synthesis of Isobutylene Dimerization by Catalytic Distillation with Advanced Heat-Integrated Technology

Zihao Chen et al.

Summary: The study proposes a sustainable catalytic distillation process for continuous diisobutylene production with significant reduction in energy and cost compared to the base case. The DECD-VRHP technology is shown to be the most cost-saving heat-integrated scheme for IB dimerization synthesis.

Processing and extraction methods of medicinal cannabis: a narrative review

Masoumeh Pourseyed Lazarjani et al.

Summary: As the cannabis industry shifts from the black market to a legal market, product development and extraction methods have become a focal point. Research on the chemical constituents of the cannabis plant is currently lacking, but solvent extraction is the most common method for extraction. More investigation is needed for alternative methods of extraction and the development of sustainable extraction methods.
